2nd gen rear bumper replacement
Hi all,
So I got hit from behind by a jeep today. I was making a left turn and then had to stop because a pedestrian entered the crosswalk. The result is that my rear bumper will need to be replaced. An initial inspection by me has me thinking it is pretty much a remove and replace situation. Before I dig into it, are there any things I should be aware of regarding taking it off and putting one back on? With being hit, should I just let a shop do it? (It was the other person's fault.) Are there any rear bumper upgrades I might consider given this opportunity to replace the bumper? https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...53e2412e87.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...301beb0974.jpg |
I am beginning to like the Jimmy / euro flat top rollpan, but she dinked your corner too yucky.

I've seen some on American Jimmy's specifically but I haven't had the heart to beg someone for theirs yet LOL. mine is starting to rust out so the flat hitch pan is the delaminating.

I would change it myself, a shop would over charge for the work. And it's fairly easy.
I have seen some nice after market bumper for s10s, but haven't seen as nice ones for 2nd gen blazers. |

I get the no time. It would be a good practice tho. It doesnt take much time to do the swap either if you got time on a saturday morning. I wonder what a shop would charge for a prep and paint. Were you able to find much on the aftermarket bumpers?

The truck is drivable so perhaps i could have the replacement prepped and painted for me and I could install it later. I have no idea how much I might save though as the adfitionsl labor in the shop would be the easy unbolt, bolt-on part. Car-ID had several replacement bumpers. |
