3rd brake light removal...
 

I want to run some wires to the roof of my truck, without going through the doors, or hatch, so I thought, why not use the hole that the brake light runs wires through?

Problem is, after I take the screws out, it seems that the light is glued/stuck to the roof... Will I need to re-seal the silicone on the bottom of the light, or will it just squish itself back into place?

I'd rather not have water leaking into my truck...

You wouldnt be running those wires to the roof for, oh say, more lights would you? lol. I would imagine that you would have to silicone it. I would, just because.

At the moment, for reverse lights, lol. Also, I found out that the roof rack screws aren't grounded...

How stuck is the light on there? I don't want to break it, taking it off...

How "stuck" it is will vary from one truck to the next.

So, let me get this straight, your running wires for more back up lights throught the third brake light hole? Where exactly are you mounting these lights?

Yes, you will need to reseal it, silicone doesn't just squish itself back into a air-water tight seal unfortunately. Would be nice if it did though!

So it just pulls off, once you get it loose, then... That'll work...

The lights are going on the under side of my roof rack.

Guess I'll have to go find me some black RTV silicone, lol

Silicone would be the way to go to ensure no leaks. It shouldn't be to hard to remove by hand, I'd shy away from prying with anything too. WD-40 would be good for loosening up the sealant or adhesive (whatever is holding it in place.) I've used it with good resultson my old blaze to get stickers the previous owner left on off, and to lossen up some nasty sealant they put around the sunroof to keep it from leaking (when all it needed was a new seal.)

YAY... time to find silicon... apparently the PO before me had removed the brake light and re installed it without the silicon... so there is a bit of rust underneath it.... and water was leaking into ... and i thought my rear hatch was F***Ed
