Has any one removed these ? If so how do difficult is it? What is needed tool wise?

Not sure why there not showing now. But it's the rails that run along the cab above the door and behind the door jam (was for keeping rain out ) there in bad shape on the wife's k5. So I would like to shave them off .I've seen a few pics of trucks with out them looks pretty good. Just not sure how to go about removing . I think there probably tac welded but not 100% sure .
