body work

hey im new to doing body work and i just have a couple of questions.

first- what grit size sandpaper should you use when sanding down the rust to go to bear metal?
second- what grit size sand paper should you use when sanding down the bondo body filler?
third-im using spraypaint to paint over the worked on area after everything is done and was wondering how to fade the spray paint to make it look like the regular paint?

and if this helps the color of my truck is red and the code is 72u

any tips would help to.. thanks

RE: body work

i always grind when im going to metal with a disk, pretty sure its 40 grit. You want to start sanding your filler and cut it down with 80, work your way up to 320 or so, for the primer. depending on the primer you probably want to sand that too with water. I use 600 for that. spray paint will not make it look good. Granted its a solid red and you can rattle can basecoat on solids if you dont have a gun. You really don't have to worry about feathering the color thats the problem, its the CLEAR that you have to worry about. Rattle can clear will not turn out very good. YOu need sprayable stuff. are you doing a fender or something? I would stuff the whole fender with a grey scotch-brite, repair the spot, prime it, color it, and then shoot the WHOLE fender with clear. That way you don't have to worry about blend lines in the clear. You can spot in and re-clear any panal on a car, except for the quarters.
