Pat - I believe pre-03 were plastic handles. Mine are definitely plastic.

I haven't double checked, but I think mine are metal and I have a 1996 4 door.

I definitely had metal handles... plastic one's do not clink like that when you let them go... mind you I had an 05

I highly doubt your '96 has metal ones, but prove me wrong! I'd like to see a pic. I'm pretty sure they're all plastic (except for the late model ones like Pat's, it wouldn't surprise me if they had metal ones).

I will try tomorrow, but they may have been changed out by the previous owner. They do 'clink' when I check to see if the doors are locked. I will try for pics tomorrow.

Mine clink too. They have metal components too them, but the surface finish is plastic.
