Clearing Head Lights?

I have a 98 jimmy and was wondering how hard it is to clear my headlights. I don't like the yellow strips in there. I know i have to put them in the oven but how long does it take and what tools would i need to do so

If you wanted to bake them apart, its something like 250°F for about 10-15 minutes. then they should just pull apart, as the adhesive that holds the lens to the housing should be soft enough by then, Wear a pair of gloves, it will be HOT. Good luck.
If you want a specific temp (250 i'm pretty sure is right though) Google "baking headlights" and it should come up with MANY results on how to do it.

When I cleared mine on my 99, I just used a heat gun and a small screwdriver to get the "rubber" backing off. I'm not sure about how long in the oven. I figured it would be easier and more controlable with a heat gun. It still took about an hour to do the whole job. I used amber lights in place of the reflectors as well as some black sealant around the edges to make sure moisture doesn't get in.

was it very hard?

No, not hard at all. Just take your time and keep your patience. The end result is worth the work!

does the heat remove the amber film as well?

There wasn't any film in mine. All there is, is some plastic reflectors. If the police are picky in your area, you should put amber bulbs in. Otherwise you are asking for a ticket, trust me, it was only 2 days after I finished the job...lol

yup, the amber is just a diffuser behind the clear lens.
