door sill wearherstrip install

02 ZR2 just purchased door sill channel weatherstrip from LMS and not sure about installing. Apparently these are held in with double sided tape or something. Do I just rip the old stuff out and clean the residue off with a blade and paint thinner or is there a trick I should know before I start.
Thanks in advanced

This is something that I'm looking at doing, as well.
My driverside drip weatherstrip is worn and starting to pop off the track.

I noticed LMC does have an adhesive for sale... part # 38-0792.

I will be attempting mine once it warms up here...hopefully in the spring.

Update

Installation was fairly straight forward, cleaning was secondary to the adhesive strips on the new weatherstrip not being able to stick to anything. Ended up having to use 3M weatherstrip adhesive and duct tape to complete the installation. To be fair LMS did send me a second set that were just as bad as the first. I don't know if they were NOS or what but should have known when I opened them they were defective due to the fact the adhesive backing strip was already coming off.

My LMC one was pretty hard to install too... I replaced my left side and like you, had to add some extra adhesive to get it to stick to the truck... I laid mine on the best I could on a Friday afternoon, folded up some paper and jammed it in the door at the front close to where it angles down to run down the windshield pillar, and shut the door on it to push it against the body, as this was the main spot it refused to stick to... I parked the truck for the entire weekend and drove just used the wife's car for the few trips into town that weekend so it had a full 2 days to set up, and it STILL didn't want to stick... I ended up using some butyl rubber to make it stick, and it hasn't given me issues since.
