Elegant ghetto broken armrest fix

2000 s10 Blazer 130K miles, 4Dr, 3.6 L

My child drives our old s10 to jr. college campus and to work. One day she noticed the driver side armrest was pulling loose from the door panel. I removed the door panel on a recent
weekend. I found that the plastic armrest frame had broken around the area where two threaded screws attach the armrest to the metal door frame. I created a ghetto fix as a short term
repair option. See attached pixs. Slide section of garden hose on your preferred length of chain. Bend the end links 90 degrees. Hope this helps someone

You used rusty chain, even. Now, that's what I call attention to detail! :icon_headbang:

Very common issue with these door panels.

I've seen some real doozies on this fix. Definitely creative points for the hose!

Bravo my friend. I'm just wondering how "temporary" it actually will be... I've seen kitchen drawer handles screwed thru just above the arm rest once... even used a fancy wooden one... unfortunately they ruined a trailblazer door skin because of it...

Wear on that door bottom rear door sill says new door hinge pin and bushings needed. Cute fix tho pulling the panel and new screws with lock nut and washers would restore it.

yes Reviving a dead thread. just thought I'd post our wonderfully ghetto "JB Weld the s*@t out of it" attempts. this is actually my older door panel that I sold to the neighbor, so I feel obligated to help him make it work lol.
