Front Bumper Cover

Hey everyone. I got a 98 Jimmy that has a cracked and smashed front bumper cover (not my fault. It was there when I got this car 4.5 years ago). I found someone on Craigslist who is parting out a Jimmy and I am going to ask about the front bumper cover. How do I replace it on this truck?

are you talking about the valence, the black cover or the whole front bumper?

Whole bumper. The guy sold me the entire bumper. Only the plastic cover is cracked, so if I could just replace that, that would be great.

i would just go to the junkyard and mess with one from there

I figured it out last night when I was messing with it. I pulled the grille off (just clips. I was afraid of breaking them, but with some force it came out) and took the headlight lenses off and there were 4 bolts for the bumper. 2 were easily accessible and were for the upper part of the bumper and 2 were low and not so accessible. I was concerned about the routing for the hoses for the transmission cooler originally, but they weren't an issue after all. Then there are the 2 brackets, one in each wheelwell. Once I took all the bolts off, there is a tab on each side and all I had to do was pull the side of the bumper and it was off. It turns out that on the Jimmy, the metal and plastic parts of the bumpers are supposed to be one piece. I did manage to separate the 2 after destroying the plastic (the plastic part was already cracked and dented by the previous owner, so this was easy), but that would not have worked for just replacing the cover.
