Front Receiver Shackles

Hey guys,

I have searched another thread on here and it didn't really help. It just gave a general link on where to find a receiver shackle.

Does anyone have any experience with putting receiver shackles on the front where the tow hooks go? I'd rather have receiver shackles instead of the tow hooks and wanted opinions on how to go about this. Any suggestions?

Crap crap crap...

After looking over at the s10 forum, it looks like I'll need receiver tubes as well as the d-rings aka shackles. Hmm... what to do. I really don't want to shell out over $100 for the receiver tubes.

Linky to explain

Linky to the receiver shackle bracket I'm looking at

i took a piece of 3/8" thick by 3" wide flat stock, drilled a hole big enough for a small shackle to go thru and welded it to my frame where the hooks would be. now i can hook up a bigger shackle or w.e. to it. ive been yakima yanked by it and used it as a strapping point and havent had any problems.

I was thinking the same thing tibby.
i saw rec tubes at harbor frieght...figured i could slid them in frame then bolt them in.
Then install the shackles like you put up....was way cheaper then 50.00

Well the shackles are closed loop so they should be a lot more sturdy and hold up to more than the tow hooks. And the tubes from synergy are outrageous. I don't see much difference from the ones at synergy than the ones at harbor freight. I was waiting for pics from the guy that responded first, maybe he will put up some soon. Otherwise, I might hit up harbor freight sometime this week.
