Getting Rid of the rust.

Well I'm getting ready for the winter and Im trying to get rid of the rust and I need help.
What I plan to do Is remove the front and rear bumpers and sand all the rust off. And then Paint them with bed liner. But I'm 17 and I cant Figure out how to remove them (the bumpers).
So my first question is how does one go about removing the front and rear bumpers? And Would bed liner work in this application? And I know this will be a slim chance, but can anyone recommend a body shop in the metro Detroit area? I have a gaping hole due to rust that needs metal welded into.

instead of welding a patch in you can rivet it in and bondo over it bondo wil fix anything. and i tried taking off the bumpers and with no luck.

if you're gonna bondo it make sure that you first sand off ALL of the rust and treat the surface with naval jelly to get the little microscopic bits you missed. Otherwise the rust is just going to spread right back into the patch plate and the bondo will fall off.

For the bumpers, once you get them off, sand them, treat them, and paint them with a coat of POR-15 (google it) primer and then a few coats of rustoleum or some other rattlecan metal paint. Do that and they'll still be around long after the body crumbles into dust.

Get a haynes (sp?) Manual.

Better extracting info from the book. Trust me.

Yea I ended up cutting it out and had a patch panel put in.
