GMC Jimmy Envoy spoiler
I wanted to do a thorough and all encompassing thread on the elusive 1998-2000 GMC Jimmy Envoy rear spoiler...aka, the most highly desirable piece of plastic S-Series fanatics have been clamoring for.
I have found very little online on how it removes, parts numbers, replacement bulbs, etc. I will post a bunch of pics of my recent finding, that will hopefully help others in the future. Here's how they came, attached to the back hatch window. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...be79aee001.jpg Attached with double sided tape and 4 clips that hold it tight. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...cefcfe0f93.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...c71fb6a1ae.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...4e0996aca4.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...28dbe2e7d1.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...5c34be965d.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...3238537691.jpg The light is neon, the reason for the high voltage stickers. I will post more info tomorrow, of what part numbers are listed on the actual spoiler itself. |
cool!

Awesome. What do the clips clip onto?
|
They clip onto some plastic latches that are built onto the rear glass. I'll have to take some pics, but they look like the tailgate striker latch for the swing tire carrier.
Made in Canada, and technically an air deflector. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...b08716cd7b.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...f582cedcae.jpg Here's the wiring connections. Notice, the wire from the light has a male connector, and the blazer wiring is a female. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...8427696f91.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...54649cf3a8.jpg Now here's the wiring for the normal led rear light... Notice, the light wire connection is a female, and the blazer wiring is a male. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...b7d29a2123.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...6e8df35eec.jpg |
Lmfao... figured... made in canada... found everywhere else......
|
Searched up the product number, aparently this is called a "High Mount Lamp". As always, discontinued by GM...

Just think GM... All this money you could be making on parts and accessories... anyone know where to get the molds? Lol...
|
Here are some shots from the junk yard of the connecting parts on the rear window;

I wonder if those clips are that important on reinstall... maybe the double sided tape should be good?
|
I think double sided tape is all that's needed. Those clips are glued into the window, it appears.
|
What will be the fate of these parts? Did you buy them for safe keeping?
|
I, ultimately, am going to attach it to my blazer.
With temperatures dropping below zero, I plan on waiting til Spring before messing with it. I figure if the neon won't work, I will just place (mod) the led light in it's place. |
I removed one once. That's the first and probably last time I'll ever mess with it. It was just plain miserable to remove I thought. Big PITA.
|
Horrendous to deal with, agreed.
I will be replacing my entire back window with another that the spoiler is already attached to. I figure if if doesn't work out, I will swap my old window back in, and put a different rear spoiler light I have on it. |
Yep, I have to agree. Replacing the window with the piece in place would be easier in the long run. So where you located in IA?
|
Very west side, across the river from Omaha, in Council Bluffs. I've lived many places in the state, though..... Central, North mainly.
How about yourself? |
I used to live in the Shenandoah area, now I live about 60 miles south of Des Moines.

I consider that Missouri! Well, actually I consider anything south of highway 92 to be Missouri :icon_laugh: |

Yep, the lakes are part of the reason I moved to Rathbun area. I have places at Rathbun and Albia.

pardon the profanity but it almost looks like you could get away with a Durango one but I don't know if that's part of the deck lid on a Durango or not...
