Jumpin' jiminy! That thing was off damn near an inch! And I though mine was bad! My upper has just a little play when you raise and lower the rear of the door. The main thing that bugs me is the hinge "snaps" when you get it 3/4 open. Seems like it's the roller... doesn't follow the guide properly, then it snaps. Lubed the snot out of it, and it still does it.

Yeah it was and there are two shims that are thicker than the one I used! Funny thing is I didn't think it was that bad. The door shut fairly well and I had been checking the striker for excessive wear and it didn't really show any. I was about ready to see how much it would be to replace the hinges...glad I didn't.

I'd pop the spring out and see if the "snap" goes away on your door.

It didn't snap until I put the spring back in. That's what makes me think there's something screwy with the roller, or the pin that the roller is on. The roller spins freely without the spring, but with the spring installed, it jumps when it rolls over the high spot on the cam. Maybe that shim would align it better, think I'll order one and try it. Body work is NOT my cup of tea, never has been. All I do is bumble my way through it and hope it works.

It's the pivot pin on the cam that's worn out. It's riveted in, so it's not an easy one to repair. I left my spring out because the clicking bugged me so much.

Thanks Diaita! That's not bad at all to change. Leaving the spring out is not an option. Wife wants the door to stay open when she opens it, not come back and crash her knees ;) Me??? I'd just hold it open.

Been shopping for a used Blazer, and of course all of them have doors needing repair. I can't believe GM, in all the years of experience building vehicles, could not have perfected a door hinge. The Shim EZE looks like the solution. Almost can't wait to try it, as the first fix to what I expect to be many repairs to come. Wish I could find and afford a Toyota 4Runner, but I expect the Blazer will keep me out of the taverns.

It seems new hinge pins & bushings are the best mechanically correct fix, but it is nice to know there is an additional fix for the elongated holes, and at a reasonable price. Good info.!!
