Have a '95, what can i do about headlights?

Well i have a '95 4dr 4wd and the headlights are really dim, what can i do about replacing, or upgrading to HIRs?

H4 conversions bulbs, they make a world of difference. Just stay away from the projectors ones with the glass focuser in them. I got mine and put silverstars H4 in them (now got PIAA) but I love them and they are 100 times better than a sealed beam.
(some likethis, I just pulled these up on a quick search)

just stay away from the black housings and the projector ones if you like being able to see VS coolness

if you want to keep the sealed beam get the ones silverstar version.

(i think these fit yours)

I also suggest doing the headlight harness mod so the lights draw power directly off the battery and not through the light switch. This also increases the brightness. You can buy them premade but its just as easy to make your own with some wire and relays.

Get yourself a LMC catalog and all these are sold through them but higher priced. Still a good (free) catalog to look at to get ideas.

HIRs in my eyes have not been proven to work in lens not designed to work with them yet in my eyes (like HIDs). I know you got guys out there doing it but I've not seen any results for me to go jump out on the band wagon yet.

Damn that turned into a long post, lol

With the H4 conversion lens yes. I can take detailed pics if you need them, I got a spare one laying around.

Isn't there two different light options for the '95s? Composite and sealed beam?

Which one do you have?

im in the same boat. as much as i hate the solid square headlights id rather be able to see than it look cool. so the h4's are the best way to go?

neo, if its not to much trouble post a pic up.

Pretty much, yeah, just stay away from any black or projector ones...

And get high quality H4 bulbs, not high power ones :D

Ya'll requested pics so here they are.

This is the light, duh. They have the blue 194 "city light" in them to fake the blue HID look but I don't ever hook it up but just leave it in there cause I think the blue reflection looks cool. Gonna try some green ones next since the blazer is green.

Pic of the back with the rubber boot on it, notice the H4 shares the same plug of the sealed beam (on a first gen anyways) this way you don't have to mod it if you don't want to.

With rubber boot taken off, the spring holds the bulb in the housing

With the bulb removed, I always store the bulb they come with and get good ones (normally silverstars but I'm trying out these PIAA xtreame whites)

This be the set in my blazer now, notice how the blue bulb gives the light a blue look during the day even not being hooked up. If you take it out its just chrome but make sure you put the connector back in so water can't splash in it and blow your bulbs.

And for giggles a still of my wig-wags and light bar on the roof going.

Even tho these will improve light output vs sealed beams I still suggest doing the wiring harness mod so they get their full voltage and don't suck it through th e switch. Makes your switch, factory wireing, and the bulbs (seems to) last longer.

RE: Have a '95, what can i do about headlights?

Only the 1st gens are a direct plug and play... The 2nd gen sealed beams are slightly different, if I remember right...

I had 0 output issues with my '85 S10's H4 conversion...

But the bulbs I had were 55/65 watt... a.k.a. stock wattage.

Anything higher, and you'll want to upgrade the wiring.
