How do the springs that keep the door open go in?

I spent like 3 hrs trying to compress that sucker into the door? Any advice would be helpful.

Get the proper tool, called a door spring removal tool. Or carefully put it into a vice compress it and use like a zip tie to hold it tight. Then put it back into the door, and remove the tie. I prefer using the tool, well worth the $15.

A zip tie will not hold the spring. I broke bailing wire in the process of trying to hold the spring in the compressed state when I did my driver's door.

The proper spring compressor is only $20 from Eastwood.com (Light Truck Door Hinge Spring Tool). It was $16 when I bought mine before I tackled the passenger door.

Double thanks! Saves me the time of re-inventing the wheel like last time I did this!

Euro you're doing it a second time? Do you use your door an incredible amount? Or is it a lack of keeping it lubed? Or maybe even....A DEFECTIVE PIN?

I will actually be helping a co-worker with this sometime soon on his 'new-to-him' 2000 Bravada.
