How to Rockgaurd?
Hey all, OSS here;
How would I go about rockguarding the lower trim/wheel wells? I did a search but not really any step by steps. Would I sand the exsisting paint? Spray on over?:icon_shrug: -OSS Pics are +2 internets |
what i did was tape off area and then use 200 grit sanding sponge/block.
take finish off...no gloss...then wipe down with mineral spirits then roll on. pretty easy...just messy. |
Wart how much did it cost you to do it? And how hard was it to follow the contours of the wheel wells?

Hey guys,
I have to do this on my black Blazer this spring. I have some paint starting to peel. I want to do down the sides below the trim with it wrapping around into the wheel wells and below underneath to the edge of the frame. Plan on taping it, sannding it, and spraying it. Anybody have any suggestions or tips on doing this? Thanks |
it cost me about 40, that was for tape and sanding block and materials.
it was not hard just time consuming, i used alot of tape in small pieces to get the contour, i just followed the out lip of the contours. http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/a...011091447a.jpg then sanded it all down with one of those 200 grit sanding sponges/blocks. all i can say is set a day aside and take your time, you should be fine. |
Cool. When it finally dries up around here where I can wash my vehicle without it instantly getting dirty again I will get on this.
Rolling it on wasnt to bad then? Easy to get an even coat? I dont know if I want to go spray or roll-on yet. |
Yeah I'm still up in the air about spray or roll

i actually brushed it on.
i tried rolling but it spatters a bit, and i was being lazy. |
I think I am going to go all along the sides, then do the rear corner bumpers, and the rear bumper. I already have my push bar done up front.
If anybody has product reviews or recommendations, I would greatly appreciate them. |
