L.E.D mod

Okay i know there are already threads on here of how to do this but i need some help. I want to change the color of the lights in my gauges in the dash to blue. I've already done the overhead lights and HVAC controls and it looks amazing, so i want the rest done.
All info would be great. Bulb size, step by step procedures, anything i need!

Since you have a 98+ blaze, you have 6 lights in your gauge cluster instead of 5 (95-97 had 5). Bulb size is 194. There are different variations of 194s to get for the cluster. I personally have and recommend 360 degree leds as I feel the light gets spread evenly. Also, I personally have and recommend the 194 SMDs. The SMDs are a fair bit brighter than the reg 194. (I have the 360 degree 194 SMD bulbs)

As for step by step instructions, youtube is best for that. Here you go bro.

Thank you guys a bunch!! Are the bulbs direct replacements for the stock ones?

Thogert 05-18-2012 03:13 PM

Yes, but...

You will need to get twist lock bases for them. The stock bulbs are soldered (or glued) into the ones in there.

You can get them here. The ones that look like this.

I got mine from a junkyard for free. :)

And I agree with tibby about the 360* smd leds. Nice and bright, and more importantly (for me at least), uniform light.

Either online like Thog gave you a link for, or I just went to Autozone and got them. Any of the major auto parts stores will have them or if you wanted to, go to the junkyard and look in the Ford section (Get these from a Ford at the junkyard). GM spot welded their bulbs in place while Ford's just "pop" out.

If i just went to junk yard, what kind of Ford am I looking for? Or just any Ford guage socket will work? And do i need to get all 6?

Thogert 05-19-2012 02:17 PM

I think just about any ford will have them in there. (hopefully tibby will jump in and tell us if I'm wrong.) I actually got mine out of a blazer or s10 :icon_shrug: so I'm not sure which vehicles will have them. And yes you will need 6 of them.
