liftgate window

does anyone know if having the window on the tail of blazers open while driving is legal or not? it is the same thing pretty much as taking the back section off a wrangler

i m asking cause the AC in my 98 blazer is dead and i need a way to cool down

i figured that opening the back would create a breeze and not lower my mpg as just having the windows all down does because the incoming air does not cause drag by getting stuck in the back of the car

is my ^idea^ correct? and no one tell me about exhaust getting sucked into the back cause i dont want to hear about it

ok?thanks

As far as legal stuff. I've done this alot! With the stereo blasting and the cops dont care one bit. It does get some air back in. gets all the hot air out of there. Lol just put a box in the abck and say your hauling something :D

i ride around with the back open alot. It really lets the air go through the truck...no problem with the cops at all

As far as legal or not, yes it is perfectly legal.

I know that the few times that I have driven with it up have caused exhaust gases to flow back into the passenger compartment, but there could have been a tail wind or something on those occasions... Be careful.

It's legal where I live. I've done it before with no problems. Someone has told me that doing that will cause the gas shocks that hold your window up to fail faster than they normally would. I don't know if that's true or not. Something to think about though. Has anyone else heard anything like that?
