Need Help with Striker and post
 

Im not sure if I am posting in the right place, But I need help with my truck. The metal on the pillar where the striker attached was bent and the striker is now ripped out. I have seen people weld a piece of sheet metal on and then reattach the striker, I want to know if anyone else has this issue and if that works. Also, what would be a round-about figure to get that work done? I am in the Philadelphia PA area and I dont really have money to be throwing at this truck if it is going to cost an arm and a leg. I do not have a welding machine nor do I know how to weld so I cannot do it myself. If there is anyone in philly or the surrounding areas that does know how to weld and would like to help I would be happy to pay you (depending on the cost ;p)

That sucks. :( I tell ya, I own a stick welder , but barely know how to use it. I managed to blow big holes in 1/4" steel plate way back in welding class with an oxy acetyline welder.. So ya sure wouldn't want me touching it..

Mine had the same problem, apparently. The fix you mention was done on mine by the previous owner. He couldn't weld very well either, looks nasty, but it works.

I could fix it for you, but you would need to travel 3000 miles to get here. Probably not worth it, lol.

Another option might be to cut out the affected area, install the striker into a new patch piece, and hold it in place with a bunch of steel pop rivets. Not nearly as elegant as welding, but it would probably work.
