Wiring Overhead display

Hello.

I'm having a 00 Blazer with temp/compass only.

Went to the junkyard and got myself a new display (out of an 01) with all the fancy stuff in it.

However: The first six wires of the new MPG display match my old display.
But then there are two (not only one) additional wires on 8 (orange) and 9 (yellow).

Can anybody pease tell me what do do with them?

Thanks.

some progress

I just found out:

(8)orange 14-Battery Positive Voltage
(9)yellow 15- Trip computer/nav class 2 serial data link

Mor information on: http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/96-b...ion-10959.html

So now my question is regarding Pin 8 (orange):
What means PAttery positive voltage? Does the display need to be provided with power at all times (even if the ignition switch is in the off position)?

This will tell you all you need to know to install one of these

http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f200/o...nstall-214399/

I used it when I did my install.

Also when you get it installed to set the variance on it. There is a section that tells you how.

Once thats done they work great.

Also look here if you end up with the ones with the MPG/Trip computers in it

Hi Kyle,I,m new to this site and need help. You seem to be the one to talk to.I want to put a long overhead console into my 2003 ZR2.Should I purchase a specific year[to have compass built in]? The parts list would be nice ,e.g. console, mounting bracket?,temperature sensor, wiring plugs [how many].What about compass? How does that hook up?What does the temperature sensor behind grille look like? Thanks for any help! I am going to do this and will make a record of "what needs to be done" start to finish with pics. I put rack & pinion steering in my 66 nova with tubular upper & lower control arms and shared all the info to save others trouble and money.

Hello all, I'm posting my question here because you seem to have the info I need so here's my question...is there anyway to reset the outside temp on my 02 Blazer. It has the temp/compass the compass works fine but since it was in an accident the temp reads oc. I checked the wires in the area of the damage from the accident and they are good. Is there a fuse or reset to correct this or do I need to keep looking for a wiring problem? Thanks, Oh and I've replaced the sensor so I know that's good.

If you can't find the fuse, disconnect the battery for 5 mins.

Thanks, I'm ready to try just about anything right now.
