Removing Molding on Jimmy Slt
I went through the countless threads on debadging Blazers that I could find, but could not find one on Jimmys. I have a '96 Slt. Does the molding come off just like a blazer with the two sided tape or is it different? It looks like the molding is thicker and I can't tell if the body is the same on the blazers and jimmys. Thanks for any help, and if anyone has pics of a final product it would be appreciated.

To make that short and sweet... 1. Is the trim on my Jimmy stuck on with two sided tape. 2. Is the body for a Jimmy the same as a Blazer. Thanks |
Unfortunately, the molding isn't as simple as Blazers. I wish I had pics or a more detailed description but I believe there's some sort of 'rail' attached the length of the body that the larger molding is attached to. I can't remember if it's bolted on to the body or if the molding is bolted to the rail. I'm also not positive if the truck I saw was a GMC or Oldsmobile though. I know both models have more cladding/molding on the side than a Blazer. Underneath it all, the main body is the same though.
If there are any junkyards nearby, see if you can find a Jimmy and start tearing it apart. Here's the only somewhat useful picture I could find. Part 5 in the top half of the page is the rail I'm thinking of. I think it's bolted to the doors http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cst/750w/0054.jpg Hope that helps some |
Bummer. Thanks though! Otherwise it would have gotten ugly..:icon_doh:
