Repainting Flares

Hi All,

First off id like to introduce myself to the forum! This site is awesome for advice and seeing others builds. I am sure this has been brought up before but I thought I would ask. I am looking to repaint my flares as they are sunfaded. I have a 05 White blazer and the color of the flares seem to be a dark slate color. I would like to repaint them about the same color. Are there any suggestion on specific paints I should be using and if by any chance you have any color codes for them. I plan to paint them on the vehicle as removing and installing the flares are near impossible and way to time consuming. Thanks for your help!

I just recently did this as well, I have a black blazer but my flares were the same grayish color that it sounds like yours are, and were very faded. I used a hammered gray spray paint from the local hardware store, is self priming and seems to have done a great job. I taped off the fenders and doors really well, than sanded and cleaned the flares really well. I noticed with the hammered paint it wants a few thinner coats, and on the last coat or 2 hold the can fairly far away and you get a really cool looking texture out of it. The color also was very close to the original color of the flares. I believe this may have been the same paint I used.

Thanks swells 87! did you also repaint your bumpers as well or just the flares? Any suggestions on a spray paint that has a similar texture to that of the stock paint?

Well I actually built a new front bumper at the same time as painting the flares, here is a link to my build thread, it is a little tough to see but if you scroll down a ways you can see the bumper all painted with the same paint. I kind of like the textured look, but you can only see the texture when really close up.

I used Krylon Fusion spray paint before. You can also use adhesion promoter.
