replacing broken aiming screws
 

I took a look at the pic I had on the recent ride of the month thread and noticed my headlights were a little off. I went to adjust them and the adjusting screw that is on the right side of the drivers side headlight snapped off. Also the top adjusting screw on the passenger side headlight broke and now every time I hit a bump, the headlight shakes. They are good when I am driving straight with no bumps, they aim foward, but I want to replace them just in case I need to change a bulb sometime. I've already had one headlight bulb blow, so I'm afraid the other one is going to blow and I will be unable to get the headlight out. How do I replace them. I looked at the gm section of parts at the parts store and none of the headlight adjusting screws they had looked to be the right ones. I'm going to check ebay or look around to see if I can get new ones, but my ? is how to get the broken ones out to get the new ones in.

Well Dave, I don't have an answer to this question, but I do have a set of headlights sitting in my closet doing nothing if you need them. They aren't broken, and are in great shape.

Thanks for askin' but my headlights are fine, just the screws to aim them are broken. Thanks though.

I can make a suggestion, if they aren't broken all the way down to the base, you can use a ratchet with an extension and the apropriate socket to turn the crank on them.

i have a 2000 chev blazer its not that eazy... i can't for the lift of me figer out what adjusting screw tilts them up n down the top one is stripped not broken... i have HID's and im tryin to point the beam of light to the ground more but i cant tell if the top one is evin doing anything.... and a suggestion to ur question... if you look there should be to little bolts to eaither side of the adjusting screw... i would assume that is to place the adjusting screw? try that if so then goto a auto wrecking yard n take a new 1 that isnt broken... but they might b part of ur hole headlamp assembly bro :S best way to find out 100% is call ur local chev dealer n ask the service or parts men... make sure u give them ur VIN cuz they are stoopid sumtimes the yrs are weird... everytime i tryn get parts for mine they are wrong but susposed to be right... intill i give a vin #

I know this is an ancient thread - sorry. I was just curious as to whether or not it ended up being possible to replace the screw or tilt mechanism?? I'm in the same boat now also.
