Rocker Panel Covers
 

I have a 2000 zr2 blazer, there is some slight rust and paint chipping going on on the rocker panels next to the fender flares. I plan on doing the rust repair myself, and i was thinking if i could find a good rocker panels cover i would just install those over the body work instead of paying to paint it or try and paint it myself. The problem is that the kits i am able to find do not show and good picture of what the panels actually cover, so i am not sure if they would even cover the body work, i am tried contacting some customer service people but they are unhelpful, also i would like to find black covers i am not a big fan of chrome. If anyone has a solution or any info i would be extremely helpful, thanks

Have you thought about bedlining the bottom half, like some guys on here have done. Looks pretty neat.

^^^^x2 this is what i will be doing this summer once i have some free time, i too have some rust starting to form there and want to stop it before it gets to far, i would paint the fenders and rockers and you will get a rugged but clean look!

X3 on Bedliner. But in the mean time. You could either sand it down, add in some body filler sand and paint. Or you could get a patch panel and rivited or welded on. Then scuff it and paint to match. It all depends on what your budget, and personal taste allows.

I personally had holes in the back of both rockers on my blazer. I just put expanding foam in them. Then used foil tape and scuffed the tape, sprayed a good amount of etching primer and painted. But I'm replacing the entire rocker panels when it's painted this summer so I'm not worried about looks.

Seriously, though, probably the best route to go. Get rid of all the rust first and then spray away. Bedliner comes in different colors other than black now a days, look at Raptor Liner for one. They can match just about any color out there.

Oh, and add me to the list of those who will be doing it in the very near future. Just been waiting for the weather and the time off to get it done. Already have the stuff to do it and I really need to get it done before I put on my sliders.

I did some calling around today getting an idea of cost involved with having shop spray it on. I called a lineX place and rhino lining place both the same price, they want about $600 just to spray the rockers and $900 to do rockers, flares and bumpers. and they wont warranty it they only warranty truck beds. So that is not money I have to spend right now.I found a local company that specialises in making trim peices and know someone who had them make custom rocker covers. I am gonna look into how much that would cost. If i get them made i am gonna do one of three things before i install them, have a shop spray liner on them, paint them myself, or coat them myself with roll on liner. If i do it myself i am sure i will use roll on liner like herculiner because i have seen store bought spray on and dont like the way it looks, does everyone egree?

You do realize you can spray/roll on the bedliner on your rockers yourself and save mucho $$$, right?
