Rusty bumper repair
the road salt here in Iowa has recently started to eat my rear bumper up. I know this is a common issue for these Jimmys and Blazers to get rusted bumpers. I took some 80 grit and sanded all of the bubbles down, attempted to smooth it with 240(its all I had) Put some rustoleum primer on (that grey stuff) and then came back a week later, taped it off and put some herculiner up on it. was this too much of a redneck fix lol, what else could I do for minor rust spots that may occur again

Looks good from here. :D
Did you address the inside of the bumper as well? If the outside edge is looking like that, then the inside will likely also need some attention. |

Not trying to make more work for you. Just wanted to note that the inner curve of the bumper tends to accumulate dust and debris (especially if you go off-road) which can trap moisture against the bumper.
It's always good to see people trying to keep these older vehicles looking and running nice. |
