Seat Converstion
In my S10, It has the stock bucket seat. A buddy of mine just bought a diesel that has a Chevy 4dr cab on it. Its either a 89-91 cab. But he doesnt need anything in that cab, so I was thinking of taking his front seats because they are Captains Chairs. How hard would it be to convert them to my truck? Can I take my current seats off the frame they on currently on, and just put the Captains on them? Or do i need to make my own bracket since the frame on the Captains are lower them my current ones. Any ideas?
youd have to fab up the brackets, its not going to bolt in. Now,if you want bolt in get some seats out of a sunfire. Swap tracks with your old seats onto the new seats and they go right in. I have em in mine. For anyone else reading this and thinking "oh cool" you must have bucket seats already. it wont work in something that had a bench seat.
Fullsize seats in a s10 are gonna be like 10lbs of crap in a 5lb bag. Gonna be all custom on the brackets and the 2 seats are gonna be huge in there. I'd highly suggest getting some seats out of something closer proportioned to the size of a s-series. I have sunfire seats in my blazer and love them. Camaro/fireturd seats also fit and look good. Both of those require almost no mods if using 1st gen s-10 bucket seat brackets. It literally took me 30 minutes to put the sunfire seats in my 87 and most of that time was spent with a vacuum cleaning the new seats and the carpet in the blazer while I had good access.

I stole mine but I go to that yard regularly and the stitching had torn apart. $25 and about 1 hour worth of work taking the covers off and sewing them up mine were good as new. Helps I helped a buddy in an upholstery shop in highschool on my days off from my other job. In all honestly I've seen others get seats for $50-100 range that I thought was a good deal.
