Some interior work
Some progress on restoring some parts on the inside of my car. Plans:
Paint tail gate plastic black with red carpet. Paint cover to car jack Paint those plastic flap things behind the seats red (just the plastic outline) Paint misc plastic parts black (with red if the part would look good with it) Paint dash trim black and vent trim red. To much red atm. |
Man its threads like this that make me feel useless when I try stuff... LOL... Goodjob thus far... Waiting for finished pictures!
|
Lol I'm just a newbie to :P
Doing a clear coat on the car-jack cover. Then I'm going to start on the handles that let the seats fold down.... wait... first I need to buy red spray paint darn was gonna get some today forgot :( |
Looking good I always like Krylon.
|
Thanks :)
Gonna let it sit a day or two in the sun to dry and cure and then I'll install it. |
It is done:

You realize it's not hard to pull that rear plastic off right? lol
3 screws and it pulls off with speed clips... |
Yeah, I was wondering the same thing I figured it would be fairly easy to take off but wasn't sure. From the looks of it it comes off very similar to the first gen blazer.
|
Oktain I tried to take it off, found 2 screws and it wouldn't come off. I think the handle (on the inside) was stopping it, and that had stripped screws :(
|
Not really a fan of painted interiors...but I'll be curious to see how all the accents work out on this one. Can't wait to see the finished product.
|
Yeah :) Right now I'm just trying to restore the inside, but with class =D
|
They aren't bad as long as you don't go crazy with the paint like a guy I know at school. He had a Yellow/Black/Lime green interior.

Finished Painting. Looks way better. http://projectblazer.webs.com/photos...s/DSC_4545.JPG http://projectblazer.webs.com/photos...s/DSC_4546.JPG Before: http://i.littlepix.co.cc/606665.png And the flappy things: http://projectblazer.webs.com/photos...s/DSC_4549.JPG http://projectblazer.webs.com/photos...s/DSC_4548.JPG Working on #2 as I type (well after/before I type can't be inside and outside at the same time haha) |
Doesn't look like theres a good finish at all on the tailgate...is it all dry? It either looks like a lot of wet spots or heavy spots. Also, did you tape off the outside of the truck? It looks like you got a lot of paint on the rear bumper corners if not..

Oh you didn't hear? I did body-work on the bumper-pieces so they are painted from that :P |
You should spray the carpet on the tailgate red! Be sure to use interior paint, or whatever it is called that they use on cloth seats and such...
|
I am :) Gotta buy some first, gonna look today but if I can't find any we're going to Scranton to shop this/next week and I'll look at craft stores

Now, did you run out of spray paint yet? Is it over? :icon_couchhide: |

I was talking about overspray from the spray paint...where you chose not to remove your tailgate and paint in in place I'm willing to bet there is overspray everywhere, including the outside of the truck.

Ok here are some pictures. It didn't turn our as bright as I wanted it, but I used the whole can (pretty small actually). Wish it was bright red.
edited Had a problem with the red paint soaking though the masking tape :( So I wet sanded it off. Going to have to give it one more coat of black. Will do after we use it to transport my dresser somewhere so I don't scratch the new paint. |
Someone's been bitten by the spray paint bug...
|
bitten? Or eaten whole then spit back up with a department store's worth of paint? lol.
Looks good, almost an exact match to the old red interiors that you don't see anymore. |
wow I didn't think spray painting carpet would look that good. maybe I'll spray paint my carpet tan to match the seats :icon_wink:.

Ugh, I hate red interiors! Our 300ZX is red inside and out. It's too much.
Also Craig, that tailgate trim looks good! |
Thanks guys!! and yeah I think I was eaten whole by the spray paint bug :D Dad's picking up some for me today!
Benedict1337 make sure you get Fabric paint, normal spray paint does bad things to carpet :P I picked up a can of Simply Spray red paint at A.C.Moore. Took the whole can to do that piece... o.o |
Re-painting the 2 air vents, cup holder, and cassett holder. I was looking at them today and said to myself "What a bad job!" You see, last time I painted those, I had no sandpaper, so there was a lot of dark spots. So I am re-doing them better this time.
Pics soon! |
