Squeaky interior body panels

My '98 2 door Blazer is suffering from severe body panel squeaking. Specifically the two rear panels directly behind the front seats (the ones which house the rear speaks).

I can't seem to find anything which would be cause the squeaks. It sounds like a plastic on metal type of squeak or maybe plastic to plastic.

I didn't see any broken clips which might be causing a plastic to metal or plastic to plastic rubbing.

Suggestions?

I would remove the panels but my kids would think it's too ghetto. :icon_razz:

Yup on monsters comment, I have tissue jammed in the console for a squeak, the rear hatch sometimes squeaks, DS door needs another new hinge (all of this is probably in the thread https://blazerforum.com/forum/genera...r-quirks-5771/.)
You possibly have a clip or two that have come out, broken. Removing the panels to see what's wrong or shimming them to stop the noise are really the only options I see.

Oh my...just finished reading the link you included Rottidog! I was laughing while at the same time crying inside as I asked myself "what have I gotten myself into?" I think I felt a tear roll down my face. LOL

Well, at least I know it's not just me. Looks like it's time to invest in some weatherstripping and foam core. Thanks guys!

Pull the panels and bedliner everything, then it looks tough and rugged! Or use my current fix, volume knob on the radio twisted clockwise! (other things to worry about first)

See below. I did this in march and it still has got rid of 90% of the rattles and is a cheap fix. Below is a link to the post.

I believe I found the main issue with these squeaks and rattles. I took mine apart today, and it isn't very hard, and I noticed that each clip, the ones that you must hit to engage it on reassembly, end up rubbing against the body. In my case the blazer is blue and at each clip, top and bottom of each rectangular hole they go into, the paint was rubbed off. I went to the hardware store and bought some 3/4" thick 1/2" wide window insulation foam. The kind that has glue on one side. I cut two pieces about a 1/2 to 3/4" long and placed it over each rub spot. I also put some foam around the speaker and I used duck tape on the back side of the ash tray seam since I think some of the noise was coming from that. It just doesn't fit real tight. On my test drive, after doing the drivers side, I now noticed the rattles on the passenger side since the drivers side is quite. I didn't even know the passenger side rattled. It got rid of 90% of the rattles. I did the same thing to the passenger side and got the same results. I feel like I am driving a different vehicle. My new complaint is a few door and dash rattles......I know what I am going to do! Oh yeah I won't for sure know if this is a real fix until it has cycled the temperature extremes.

I did something similar with the metal clips:

Kind of a half-assed way...that's Gorilla tape, pretty thick stuff but I like the foam insulation idea better. I still have one squeak right behind the driver's side, but I think it's because the clip won't stay in the hole for some reason.

Update:

I was able to get rid of most of my squeaking by doing what aa21830 and CAB suggested. Major improvement! :) Now, all I have is this annoying squeak coming from the tail gate. It's a different kind of squeak unlike all the others. It almost sounds like metal rubbing against metal VERY quickly. Especially when the truck is idling. It sounds like the noise is coming from the inside of the tail gate but I can't seem to find the problem.

Does anyone know what I am talking about? I did a quick search on this an found out it seems to be a common problem - tailgate squeaking. Argh.

Nevermind, I found a few solutions. ;)
