Swap Info Needed: Newer Front Seats in '87 K5
I've just returned to "Blazerdom" by buying an '87 K5. Had a couple of new ones back in the seventies; guess I'm returning to my roots.
Anyway, I've also become softened and spoiled by the seats in newer vehicles. Does anyone know what newer-model bucket seats might be adaptable to an '87 Blazer? Anyone had any direct experience with this swap? Thanks in advance, ----Mac |
I don't think ther are any "direct fit" seats realy out there you are pretty much just gonna have to find a set of seats you like and make them work in the K5, like what I plan to do with my '87 lol

The front seats out of an equivalent year Suburban would likely be cushier. I know the seats that are in my parts 'burb are quite nice yet. You would have to swap mounts on the passenger side if your seat flips forward (can't remember how the later model K5's worked), but they should swap right over onto your mounts.

Modern Seat Swap into '87 K-5
Many thanks for the responses. For info, the existing (stock) seat backs flip forward, which releases the entire seat to slide forward on its rails, allowing rear access.
I'm wondering if a set of comparable, late-model power seats (maybe even with console) might simply replace the factory seats and mounts. If they move far enough forward they might allow rear access, even if the backs don't tilt forward. Thinking about it, I doubt the rear seat will see much use; those who do occasionally use them would have to be pretty agile to gain access. :icon_wink: I'm on a quest to find the right seats for this job and install them. Will probably start by seeking out Suburban seats. If/when I accomplish this I'll do a write-up on this forum to show how it worked out. Again, if anyone has already done this I'd sure appreciate hearing what year/make seats you used and all the particulars. ----Mac |
