using spray Plasti-Dip to get an idea

16 Attachment(s)
Over the weekend I decided to mask and spray black Plasti-Dip between the driver and passenger door windows to get an idea of what it would look like before doing any permanent spray paint. The Plasti-Dip sprayed on very smooth and covered very nicely with three lighter coats instead of one heavy coat. Problem is that when I went to peel off the tape, the Plasti-Dip wanted to peel off along with it. That's why the edges look messed up. But anyhow... I think the flat black would look pretty nice if done in real paint and if the top and bottom edges were straight across, following the top and bottom horizontal lines of the window gaskets. Any opinions? Look good? or not?

I like it, could also try behind the back window also

love that plasti dip.
yeah i agree...looks good. only thing i would change is where you didnt meet up with the rounded edge of the windows...go all the way to the edge so it will look cleaner.

I'm not sure about it, it seems to date the styling a bit. It does give it a more custom look though.

Yeah, I did go straight across as you're suggesting, as you can see in the first pic with just the blue tape, I did that. but when I peeled off the tape the plasti-dip pulled off in those areas with the tape. :icon_doh:

Thanks for your opinion :icon_toast:

maybe roll the tape edge, thats the way painters dont get a hard edge.

I like that idea, but maybe just on the back door, and leave the body that's just before the large rear side window unpainted. To give the appearance of a larger rear door window.

i found with plasti dip you need to pull the tape at about a 90 degree to the surface.
great stuff. i would play around till you find what you like and go for it.
if you love how it looks everyday when you walk up to it then go for it....its your ride...make it yours...others be damned :D
