common blazer vortec w/ 4L60E. any fuel efficiency ideas

I have the common vortec V6. Any good gas savers specific to this engine or vehicle?

Thanks for any useful replies

Welcome! Have a look around this section. There are a number of threads discussing ways to improve your mileage or even just restore what might be lost due to old, worn components.

easy on the gas, easy on the brake, and your mpg's surely will be great!

Try a "cold air intake" form ebay, the ones without the heat sheild. Technically it's a warm air intake. warm air has less 02, therefore less fuel required for stoichiometric ratio :)

Here is what I did: I changed the fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, updated to a K&N air filter and ran some Marvel mystery oil through the engine and tank (which I do once and a while) and I am getting exactly 15-20 mpg consistantly now. When I bought it at 96K I was only getting like 12-16mpg. Also, I only use shell gas.

I avarage 18-20 mpg with a cold air intake and a flowmaster 40 series muffler. little more free flowing.
