exhaust questions

I just baught a 01 blazer with the zr2 package and am looking to redo the exhaust system from stock.
Is a high flow cat worth getting or just getting a muffler like a Flow Master 40 good enough?
might do headers down the road but it looks like PIA to get in there to do that.

any suggestions or commants about what others are running would be nice

RE: exhaust questions

I have a magnaflow muffler and a high-flow cat and it sounds a lot better than one of my friends s10 with just a magnaflow muffler.

High flow cats are a good thing for exhaust. More exhaust gases flow, thus creating a bit more power, and sound. Just make sure that you do put a cat on it. If you don't, you might actually loose power because of less backpressure.

Good advice. The days of 'no backpressure' are long goneforOEM design engines. Too many folks don't realize, or want to admit, that modern engines are designed to have a certain level of backpressure for proper functioning.

from what i hear, high flow cats arnt really worth it on the newer blazers...(98+?)They alreadyhave "high" flowing cats stock, so ahigh flow cat wont be much of an improvement if thats true...

Thanks for all the comments, i will have to give it some thought, is there a way to test/tell if a cat is high flow?

I believe you'll just have to take the manufacturors word for it.
