Ideas And Comments Needed

I have a '89 Blazer S-10 4x4 with a 4.3 TBI. I want to make more power for use both on and off the road. And I was just wondering if anybody had some ideas.

What I was thinking of doing is starting with intake/exhaust. I was thinking of making a ram air intake, or using a cowl hood with an open air cleaner, and flowmaster or magnaflow cat-back system, probably with headers.

Then move onto the intake manifold. I was wondering if I could convert the older TBI system/intake manifold to multi-port injection. I figure if I could, then I would have to get the computer tuned, so I would do that next.

Come to think of it, I should probably do internals before the intake manifold/throttle body, I'm thinking stock compression forged pistons, (not sure what the stock compression ratio is on this truck) and a high-lift cam?

Anyway, anybody have any ideas, or comments on my ideas? I'd love to hear them all.

sounds good. the 4.3 motors are pretty durable motors so you might be able to get away with the stock internals for now and do a mildly tuned cam. i dunno if the have a multiport injector kit for that year 4.3. i know with the 5.7 they have a complete kit for that application. in addition to doing the intake and exhaust you could do an underdrive pulley kit and a high flow thermostat. possibly instead of doing multiport injection you could do bigger injectors and chipping out your ecu?
