One great reason to do a an e-fan conversion

Saw this on another forum, and figured it was worth a share here. The Dyno results were surprising!

As we have discussed before, in the case of the Blazer 4.3L engines this is a non-argument. The video shows that the clutch fan system, like the Blazer uses, draws off 14HP and 7lbft of torque from a more powerful engine. On the street this would not even be noticeable to a driver, but is only a statistical exercise. The percentage numbers on a 4.3L would yield even smaller figures. The electrical system on the Blazers could be a bit sketchy, so I see no valid argument for adding the parasitic draw of an electric fan to it.

Welp, I guess its already been decided for these engines then... although I will still be doing mine so I can turn the fan off during water crossings.

Either way, I thought it was an interesting video- and I learned something from it.

ive seen WAY to many problems with electric fans, in person and on forums from both the offroad guys and the v8 s10 guys. ive always ran manual clutch fans as they just work. not having to worry about some stupid sensor or wire breaking when you need that fan to work.

i always have that mentality of if it works leave it alone, unless youre running your car/truck down the 1/4 mile and need that tenth of a second shaved off
