wat kinda performance chips and increase mods work good for blazers mines a 98 and id like to get it more souped up once i finish driving back across country next month

there's been a lot of answers to this lately... a ECU tune helps a little, exhaust helps too. If you want performance you need to spend some money.

Obd2 doesn't take chips the ecm has to be reflashed

antz2009 11-30-2012 12:22 AM

im looking into maybe like a realtime tuner

Hypertech HyperPAC, Hyperpac Tuner

going to pick one up this weekend then possibly go to a dyno early next week and see how good it is and if it works.

a professional ecu reflash is the best but can be pretty spendy if you keep upgrading parts.

ill post my result by wednesday next week.

On Board Dianostic 2 its the type of computer (ECM)your truck uses.

The first gen of ECMs was OBD1 and did use chips but mass produced chips are a rip off. Later was changed to ODB1.5 and finally ODB2. Neither of the later uses a chip and require the ECM to be reflashed with a new program.

they only show it for 2002 and newer blazers....boooo!! That's what i get for owning an antique I guess :icon_hunter:

You can get an ecm tune with lifetime retunes for like $200 that's cheap if you ask me!! Like others said"chips" are a scam and do nothing for you if you want real performance your gonna be spending several thousand our just selling your blazer and buying something different lol

antz2009 11-30-2012 04:27 PM

They do make them for 96-98 as well

And ecu flashes where I live are 350$ each time.
I live in a small town.
