Pcmforless review

2000 zr2. Cai, headers , electric fan, accel coil. Had pcm flashed , ask for power and torque. Very happy with it so far.runs smoother, very peppy off the line and passing cars on the highway. Shift points different. Cruise on the highway rpms are a bit higher but got 1 mpg better. Confused about that. Did crankshaft relearn, tried to set timing but can't get any better than minus 9 degrees. Still it runs well. As for the vehicle anti theft delete, still get solid alarm or blinking alarm while driving but goes off after ten minutes or so. Think it has something to do with passenger door since it only happens when it's been opened

Captain, any ideas why I cant get better than -9 degrees on the timing?

How are you adjusting your timing?

newguy 05-31-2016 05:13 PM

Yes, you have 4 degrees of adj. with your dist.. I think if it was off 1 tooth it would be way more than 9 degrees

Why are you adjusting your timing?

And about how far can you get it advanced before it "messes up?"

newguy 05-31-2016 08:31 PM

When you do a crankshaft relearn you need to adjust your timing after. Not advancing it, 0 is what I'm after.

Do you know if it was Bryan or Keith that did your tune? I've heard great things about Bryan. Keith not so much.

newguy 05-31-2016 08:53 PM

Don't know, but am very happy with it. Best mod yet

Rusty Nuts 06-03-2016 05:03 PM

Sorry I can't offer any help getting your timing dialed in. I've been researching this for a while. It's about the only mod that will pay for itself in fuel savings in a reasonable amount of time. The power and torque are a welcome bonus. Actually, I wouldn't want a mileage tune without adding torque.

Were there any other companies that you looked into before you chose pcm4less? They've been around for a long time. The only complaints I've heard are from a couple of LS guys with oversize power adders.

Did they recommend the headers or anything else to compliment your tune? You're the first trustworthy source I've found for these questions. Thanks for starting this thread. I doubt I'm the only member interested in this mod.

No they didn't, but I opted to do everything I wanted first before doing the tune. I was very close to throwing a cam in also but after seeing other blazers with 270 cams I decided not to.. Daily driver for me and it didn't seem practical. Someday maybe but not now
