Picking a programmer

I'm trying to decide between the hypertech and bullydog gt.

I know pcmforless is a better option but I need something to read and clear codes.

Now do those programmers for sure clear codes? Also does anyone know if they do anything for shift firmness?

I'm leaning to the bullydog right now.
