Spectre CAI
I have been using the spectre CAI for 3 years now, and love it. Well tecnically its just the filter i am using. the pipeing is made from a 3in pvc 45* elbow. Eather way it is great and never had a problem starting the truck. even in the winter.

well i was in your same boat.. i didnt wanna pay $200+ for one because it would take to long to pay its self off. then i ran across the gem of a thread that walked you through how to make your own. i made mine all for 60$ most expensive part was the Spectre filter (going to switch to a K&N soon) i got my sheet medal for free tho but thats like $10 or less so you could probably do it for $70. it only took about an hour or two to make the heat shield and get it fit in, very easy to do. I love making the decision to make one even more every time i fill my truck up. about 2 MPG better.
if i can find the Thread ill link it here. its something like.. HOW TO: Home made intake and heat shield. ill look tho.
EDIT: found it.. the rest of the thread got cut off but the slide show he has linked shows you everything you need to know.
