I want to add as much as I can to my 4.3 for more power before I tune my pcm so far I only have a cold air intake I'm going to do the throttle body blade mod next week and I'm going to port and polish the throttle body then im going to install some headers I also have a flow master exhaust with double exit pipes, does this spacer work (Taylor VMAX Intake Manifold Spacers - JEGS) I also want to instal msd ignition and Taylor wires and accel coil I already have a accel cap and rotor anything else or better I can install before tunnig

I did save my money the flowmaster my brother installed it, the k&n intake I got lucky on e bay for $55 new only cus it was a returned package nothing missing accel cap and rotor free off a friend
So any help or ideas for performance I want ideas not for someone to tell me I wasted money no offense
No offesne, these trucks do run best with stock ignition componets. Riddle wasn't trying to be rude. Having said that, what are your plans for the truck? Bigger tires? Gear swap? I would do those things first, otherwise the computer will have to be retuned.
If u do the spacer let me know how it goes thanking about doing it myself...
Dont spend your money on a CAI, throttle spacer, ANY ignition parts. A K&N is a waste of money if you are looking for performance, or are anywhere thats dusty. I have tried it all... gimmicky crap. headers and a FULL exhaust do well. PCM tune was mediocre at best. just my .02. Power isnt cheap!!
A cam, porting, headers, exhaust and a matching PCM tune will give you about 50hp. |
If not I'm thinking of swapping the engine I have 350 ramjet in my 70 impala project

Diaita I like blazer how much did you spend on you axle swap and lift
Thanks! It cost me around $2800 in parts for axle, steering and drivetrain. Lift was about $120.
Now in this case I should have saved my money I spent around 1300 on wheels and rough country kit I need to save for that axle swap, hows the ride feel on that and is it slower
It rides firmer than stock for sure. About the same as an xterra or trd Tacoma. It handles far better than with the 5" trailmaster lift I pulled out. It has to be slower than stock,I've added a fair bit of weight. Mileage isn't bad, about 9 mpg in town, 19 on the highway.
You wouldn't happen to still have trailmaster lift would you

If you want a lift, a SAS really isn't too hard, just time consuming. |
That's what I do want but like you said time consuming, I need to finish my other project first because the blazer is my daily driver I think I might start hunting down piece by piece, what trucks would be donors for the axle swap?
it all depends what you want to do with it, how hard you want to drive it and how you fabrication skills are. Cherokee axles are really popular, have good aftermarket support and are the right width. Best of all usually cheap and easy to find. The down side is they are somewhat weak, only the front is a better axle is an s10. I thought about using a couple full width Ford axles a Dana 44 and 9" rear axle, a bit wider, but could work and are pretty tough. The 95+ explorer rear axle is good if you want a decent axle with disc brakes.
I chose my axles because there was nothing bolt on about it...completely custom. |
And what about the t case
You'll need to change out the front output shaft on your transfer case so you can install a standard or CV(preferred) yoke. a late 90s to 2000s cherokee works ok as a doner so long as it has the wide chain. 95 and earlier blazers all had the wide chain and a standard yoke.
Thank for all the info now I just need to start hunting down parts on the bright side its almost new years so pretty soon it'll be tax return season :)
