I have the 4.3 L V6, and want to change the spark plugs. I doesn't look like I can reach them from the top, however. How does one reach the spark plugs on this engine to replace them? Do I have to...

I finished the job. The converter should just slide out, but it hangs up on the hangers. I had to bend the left-side hanger to get it out, and to put the new one in. The angles on the inlet and...

with a Walker bolt-on replacement. I have to unbolt from the exhaust manifold, and the muffler. Then I'm not sure if I should unbolt the hangers on both sides, or if there is some trick to slide it...

98 Blazer, A/T, 4WD, stuck in highest gear in range.

I think that's what it's doing. Here are the symptoms:

1. Park works.
2. Reverse works.
3. Drive range 1 can move the vehicle from a stop.
4. Drive range 2 can move the vehicle from a stop at a...

RE: Odd Miss

It could be weak ignition or mixture is too lean. Using the shotgun method, the next replacement would be the ignition coil and electronic ignition. The coil's insulation could leaky.
A scan tool...

RE: Turn singal switch ??

It's a $500 job at the dealer. I know, because mine broke. Fortunately, for me, I had an extended warranty. For you, not so fortunate. You have to remove the steering wheel to replace that switch. It...

RE: 95 Blazer drivers power seat?

Blazers have lots of switch problems, so it is just as likely to be a switch as amotor. Nevertheless, this is trouble-shot by using a volmeter or test light. You can start at the motor, and probe it...

RE: ball joints

Yes, they are riveted in. A cold chisel will work for this.

RE: Stupid Blazer Rant

My oil filter lines failed at about 50k. First they leak around the fittings. You may not notice it, because the fittings are behind the plastic "rock shield", along with the rubber hoses connecting...

RE: DEX-COOL

Not exactly true. The class action lawsuit will net the class-litigants cents-off coupons towards the purchase of a new GM vehicle, or if they are lucky, a $50 gift certificate. The law firm will get...

RE: overheating

See my related post under "DEX-COOL". I chased a similar leak for about a month. While a couple of quarts leaked out of the engine, I got only a couple of drops on the garage floor, and could find...

RE: DEX-COOL

I have a 98 Blazer, 75k, and it still has Dex-Cool in it. I had emptied, flushed, and filled the cooling system at 5 years, as required. Up til a month ago, I had no problems. Then I started seeing...

RE: Alternator?

The belt tensioner is the spring-loaded pully assembly that you have to release with a 3/8 square drive extension to change the belt. These assemblies have a notoroious history on Chevrolet cars and...

RE: Alternator?

Short life of alternators on GM vehicles usually indicates a failed belt tensioner. Replace the alternator, belt tensioner, and belt together.

RE: 2000 Blazer

This problem can be electrical or mechanical. One easy trick is to rap on the starter solenoid, because they can get stuck. Use a small hammer and only hit it hard enough to un-stick the solenoid....

Any way to evaluate transmissiion cooler?

I have a 98 Blazer LS w/ 75k,and it has developed the dreaded intake manifold leak. I never had a low coolant level before the leak developed, and I don't see too much dex-cool rusty sludge around,...

RE: water sound out of the dash?

The sound was air in the antifreeze. Dex-cool does not tolerate air, and forms a sludge substance that you saw in your radiator. It will also rust the engine, and you should also see the rust in the...

RE: anti freez leek

Most likely spot is off the intake manifold. This is serious, since the dexcool has a history of destroying the intake maniford gasket. Then the air that gets in causes the dexcool to sludge up and...
