The pressure will flux some from idle to WOT. The main concern is what is the min and max pressure? I assume you still have the original spider and fuel pressure regulator.

It will not take 10 seconds for the fuel to get to the eng, or it should not. Go to the DIY section and do the fuel sys diganosis test. Again, it could be the pump, FPR, filter, check vlv, etc. ...

Go to the fuel pump prime connector and wire it...

Go to the fuel pump prime connector and wire it directly to the battery. This by-passes all the relays and provides battery voltage to the pump directly. The connector is located on the firewall.
