yup what ohsofly said does not apply to you since your engine is throttle body injected, those "valves'' are your fuel injectors. he was talking about the vin w engine wich has the spider injectors.

the belt shouldn't have any effect on the...

the belt shouldn't have any effect on the compressor moving since the clutch should be disengaged. if the clutch is seized to the compressor then that would be a good place to start

have you checked the connection to the dash...

have you checked the connection to the dash lights? the connector could have corrosion or any of the related connectors or bulb sockets. trailer connector could be shorted out somewhere in the system...

if its going into open loop its probably and open thermostat not allowing it to warm up to proper operating temp causing it to run rich, i had this same problem and a new thermostat fixed the problem
