I just had my left front hub replaced at dealer. It hurt but I paid $250 for the part and another $250 for labor. That fixed the groaning I heard at 30 mph and above.

I had a similar squeal in my '00 Jimmy 4.3 engine. I thought it was the idler pulley. That did not fix it. The only thing it needed was a new belt. Robertr is correct. Get a Gatorback belt.

Although you can try the candle trick, swartlkk is right. I had a squeak in my '00 Jimmy. I thought it was the idler pulley. Still had the squeak. Got a Goodyear Gatorback belt and that solved it!

Correct, Clutch. Chrysler product owners can do a "key dance" (on-off-on-off-on-off-on) to have the codes show in the odometer area. Unfortunately, GM doesn't have this feature.

Hope this isn't stupid but, are you sure it's not the belt? I had a similar problem. Thought it was the idler pulley. Turns out it was the belt itself.

I had the same problem with my 2000 Jimmy about a year ago. I replaced the multi-function switch on the column and that solved the problem. Hope this helps.
