i encounted this problem before and the parts store can tell you what direction of pump you have and if you are going to buy a new one which one to get they also make a reverse fan to match from jegs...

also note the rubber lines should be replaced because the rubber gets old and collaspes and restricks the proper fluid flow and there is a switching valve that can go bad you can see one on e bay...

check the spark on the plugs remove a wire put a old plug in the end of the wire and have someone turn the engine over you should have a pretty blue spark not a yellow one blue is a strong fire spark...

thanks so much for all the replies i did the swap on the engines and all went good and it runs much better now and also did the body work and painted it in the drive way and it turned out great also...
