83 K5 blazer 4x4 Transmission bangs into gear at idle

My 83 K5 with a 700r4 slams/bangs into gear at idle. It has been sitting for 5 years, but fired right up and other than the hard shifts, it seems to drive fine.
Ideas?

I mounted a set of 2000 Suburban seats into my 83. Now to do the seatbelt delete and see if the 2000's console will fit....

Tom A., thanks for the info. This is a Colorado vehicle. On further inspection, it does have a cat and no 02 sensor and also no OBD port.

The Googler tells me that my K5 Blazer has an OBD1 port under the dash. I cannot find this mysterious OBD port.
The date code on my dash insert is 10/82.
Does anyone know if there is an OBD port...
