Fuel pump!!!

Fuel pump just crapped out, unable to replace it myself. How much can I expect to pay to have a "reputable" shop replace it? I've been quoted $700-1000.

That DEX-COOL antifreeze is the devil!!! Thoroughly backflush your heater core, and while you're at it flush the entire cooling system and replace it with the green stuff.

Can't turn off, can't switch to lower or defrost vents. I'm guessing it's a vacuum problem? Where to start?
