Flare tool rental and $20 in the help section will get you going again. Filter to tank is easy but from the filter to the engine is a lot harder to replace.

As others have said, it sounds like you're 180 degrees off on your distributor. Remember each piston goes to TDC twice in one rotation of the distributor.
