Reporting back that I took it to a 3rd mechanic and after 2 days he finally got it to have the same problem and the fuel pump was theproblem. Worked sometimes - not others. New pump, problem solved....

Read the post from 'just a mom' that sounded similar - seems to be a lot of them. rriddle3 suggested testing the ICM. I hadn't thought about that. Any thoughts??

I've used Lucas before as an oil additive and it did help, so it's a pretty cheap way of fixing if it works. THANKS. I'll report back in a week.

BTW, tranny had a cheapie rebuild 3 yrs. ago. Tech said to unload the vehicle soon. So I guess I've been lucky so far.

Could this also be a small leak in the vacuum line? No expert, just a thought. I've had the ABS go on & off and it was the sensor (bearing) that had to be replaced.

The stuff I used was 'stop leak' but not Lucas Brand. I'll try that next but I think the leak is too much for it to work.

Any other ideas on whether there is separate cooler for power steering...

I've got a rear gate that won't lock. This is not good when you've got stuff inside. The 4 doors lock/unlock and sometimmes the alarm will go off if the back gate is opened when the doors are locked....

My son I took everything apart on left wheel, cleaned off the sensor, put together again & it is 100% better. Still not perfect, but MUCH better stopping at slow speeds and perfect ABS at higher...
