one other idea... when my Mass Air Flow meter went bad the truck accelerated like crap off idle. A good scan tool showed my fuel trims were all out of whack. A simple test is to just unplug the MAF...

but the trans shop said the 3-2 shift solenoid was bad. They replaced that and it's good to go! Woohoo!

I'm yanking the trans on my '97 GMC Jimmy. I read the general procedure, I have the trans mount off, driveshafts off... etc.

Yeah I guess I'm at this point.

I unplugged the trans and it did not default to 3rd. :icon_doh: It still behaves the same, has park, reverse, neutral, and 1st gear only with no upshift.

Thanks for the feedback. I have verified that it does go to neutral while rolling and free rev. Park I guess I haven't actually tried rolling the truck, but I think it has held it on an incline...
