i recently replaced the front end ball joints in my 2001 LS, and trust me, its a hell of alot cheaper to do it yourself. go buy some jacks, at least 2 to be ok, some stands, ball joints at autozone...

have you checked your tie rods, ball joints, idler arm, pitman arm, and the steering gear box? those would be my first assumptions, seeing as how i have that exact issue with my 2001 LS Blazer.
